‘Reality Store’ Volunteers Needed to Give 9th Graders a Feel for Life’s Demands

Would you like to help 9th graders in Northampton County become aware of the realities of the cost of living and the demands on their income as an adult?

We need some great people to donate time, energy, and experience in a variety of areas December 4 from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Northampton Cooperative Extension office for a Reality Store.

During a Reality Store simulation, students pay bills for a level of income based on a randomly selected education level, occupation and family situation. Students apply decision-making, problem-solving, and management processes. The goal is to develop skills in these processes for practical, real-life situations involving the use of money. They visit a series of learning stations that require making budgeting decisions.

We need help filling these learning stations. It is our hope that you will be able to join us for this event. Training sessions will be held before the event to prepare volunteers on their roles.
