FRIDAY 5/10: Dave Burden Explains Shorekeeper Coastal Monitoring at ESCC Seminar

The Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia presents “Shorekeeper Coastal Monitoring Program.” 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the Eastern Shore Community College lecture hall, 29300 Lankford Hwy., Melfa.

Dave Burden will discuss what the Shorekeeper program is, its importance to the Shore, and how people can become more involved as active stewards of their creeks and coastal waters.

Burden studied Environmental Science at UVA, then moved to the Eastern Shore to start a kayak outfitting/eco-tourism business. He became the Eastern Shorekeeper because he saw an opportunity to work, protect, and preserve the community and ecosystem.

The Science and Philosophy Seminar explores topics ranging from philosophical speculation to scientific research. All seminars are free and open to the public.

Seminars are occasionally postponed on short notice; check www.SciPhi.org within two days of a scheduled date.
