THURSDAY 6/27: Old School Cape Charles Public Meeting to Discuss Fate of Town Property and Neighborhoods

The group known as Old School Cape Charles will meet 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, in the social hall at St. Stephen’s AME Church, 511 Jefferson Avenue. The public is encouraged to attend — especially those interested in discussing public property issues and property values in Cape Charles.

Participants in the Old School meeting will review the group’s mission and next steps.

History: Old School Cape Charles was established to save the old school in Central Park for community use.

The organization made three proposals to Town Council to purchase or lease the school. The last offer was for $10,000.

Town Council declined to consider the offers and instead gave a developer the building, basketball court, and parking for the park and playground, along with $41,000 to apply toward utility hookups.

Old School Cape Charles has appealed the giveaway and related zoning to the State Supreme Court.
