Cape Charles Christian School Open House Thursday 8/29

As we begin to think about shaking the sand out of our flip flops or perhaps finishing up that last summer project, the faculty and board of directors at the Cape Charles Christian School are gearing up for another year of innovative, experiential learning for their students.

With new Kindle HD Fire tablets and flat screen TVs added to the classrooms, the school is poised to provide innovative teaching methods. “We have created new partnerships with Arts Enter and Impact Fitness to add further depth to our curriculum, offering students a unique educational opportunity beyond the brick and mortar of the school,” said John Burdiss, school board chairman.

The school will host an open house August 29 from 5-7 p.m. at the school (237 Tazewell Ave) and we encourage parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to come and see the impact that making an investment in their child’s education can offer. Financial payment plans and multiple students per family discounts are available.

“We love the opportunities the children are exposed to at CCCS. One day they may to go the beach to watch a sea turtle be released back into the bay, or to the harbor to tour a visiting tall ship, or to the state park to learn about migrating birds or even watch the annual butterfly release. It’s not just about the classroom but they are learning to be part of a community,” shares a parent who has two children at CCCS. This is an example of the school’s philosophy of experiential learning. With these natural resources available what better way to learn than to experience?

Holly Hubbard, 6-8 teacher, states, “At CCCS we educate the whole child which means we not only strive to teach a rigorous level of academics that are designed to meet the needs of all our children individually, but we also work to develop the child’s sense of self, spiritual health and engage them in their community.” This is the among the reasons a parent who has recently transferred her daughter to CCCS made the decision.

Debbie Hamilton shares, “Having heard many positive comments about CCCS, and knowing several students and parents that were very happy here, I wanted her to become part of this ‘family’. The teachers not only do a great job teaching, they care about their students and want them to succeed! I like the fact that the kids are able to get outside more — everything isn’t just in the classroom. And while doing this, they learn more about God’s word, and that our religion is an important part of life.”

While making curriculum plans and gearing up for the fifth academic year, the board of directors and faculty are busily making exciting cosmetic and functional improvements to the school. With plans to repurpose the building’s sanctuary later this year, there is never a dull moment at 237 Tazewell Ave. The CCCS family is striving to enhance and share the blessings offered through such talented and certified teachers. It is safe to say summer is over for the teachers at CCCS as they finalize their plans to welcome the smiling faces of the student body.

It is not too late to consider making the change to Cape Charles Christian for the 2013-14 academic year. Mark your calendars for the open house, or call today to schedule a private tour or to simply ask a few questions. We know you will love what the Cape Charles Christian School has to offer that important child in your life and that they will benefit greatly from this unique learning experience.
