New American Legion Post Forming in Parksley

This is a call to all war time veterans to come and join a new American Legion Post forming in Parksley.

The initial meeting for this new post will be held on January 23, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Town Scout Hut in the Park. Please come and hear what The American Legion stands for and how it will support the veteran, Parksley, and the surrounding communities.

The American Legion is the world’s largest veterans organization and was chartered by Congress in 1919. Forming a new American Legion post requires a minimum of 15 new members.

American Legion posts support their local communities through mentoring youth and sponsorship of programs such as Boys State, Boy Scouts, Legion Baseball, Oratorical Contest, Middle School Essay Contest, and Flags for 1st Graders. The American Legion also advocates patriotism, promotes a strong national security agenda, and provides a continuing devotion to fellow service members and veterans.
