FRIDAY 1/10: ‘Where’s My Flying Car’ Seminar at ESCC

“Where’s My Flying Car?” is this week’s Science and Philosophy Seminar 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 10, in the Lecture Hall of Eastern Shore Community College, Melfa.

Futurist Josh Hall will address why the flying car, a staple of science fiction and popular culture from the 1950s, is variously seen as over-optimistic prediction, a failure of technology, a failure of progress, or — something. He will explore the history behind the predictions of, and attempts to build, flying cars, and their economics and future prospects.

Hall has done research in computer design, robotics, and nanotechnology. This talk derives from some of the material of his forthcoming third book, “Where is my Flying Car?” He is a licensed private pilot.
