FRIDAY 1/31: ‘Permaculture and Forest Farming for Non-Hippies’ by Jay Ford

Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia’s next seminar is “Permaculture and Forest Farming for Non-Hippies,” 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 31, in the Lecture Hall of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29300 Lankford Hwy., Melfa.

Jay Ford will discuss Permaculture and Forest Farming and why they make sense for our economy and the environment, and how they compare with current agricultural practices.

Ford is the owner/founder of Shine and Rise Farm, a chemical-free permaculture site in Painter, as well as the Executive Director and Shorekeeper for Virginia Eastern Shorekeeper. Previously he served as the Legislative Director for now Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam and as a policy fellow for the House Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee.
