Lots of ‘Cats’ Needed for Arts Enter Play: Audition February 1

Arts Enter Cape Charles will hold open auditions for the show ‘”Curiosity Cat” 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, at the Palace Theatre, 305 Mason Avenue.

Youth: 7-16 Male, Female
Adults: 1 Male, 1 Female

Please prepare: You will just be reading a short piece from the play.

Song, dance (optional) – You may sing anything you like (Acapella-American Idol style), and show us your best cat moves.

This audition will be very fun and light, not scary at all.

There are about 15 main character roles, but roles for many stray cats are available. This play will be a great medium for seasoned performers, but also a great way for new stars to find their way to the bright lights of the Palace stage. Expect a bit of hard work, but also lots of fun along the way.

If you cannot make the rehearsal date, and would like your child to be part of the show, please contact Amy Watkins at [email protected] or Wayne Creed at [email protected] or phone 757-331-3135.

The show is scheduled for May 16, 17, and 18. Rehearsals will be every Saturday from 10 to 1, beginning February 8.

About the Show “Curiosity Cat”:
When their mother becomes very ill, Claire and Charlie are forced to live with their Aunt Jenny. A stray cat named Curiosity also wanders into the house. When he breaks Claire’s prized music box, she immediately throws him back out into the streets. Being homeless is an adventure, not a concern, for a cat this curious and cool. Soon, the children (with Fred the dog) set out to rescue Curiosity Cat, who is busily trying to help other forlorn felines find homes while simultaneously avoiding a newly appointed “cat catcher” who vows to put him in the pound.

Filled with memorable characters such as Coot, the geriatric cat; Slicker the big city alley cat; Penelope, the pampered Persian Princess; Fred the extremely loyal dog; a chorus of cute jailbird strays; and the evil cat catcher Skeevelberger, the play builds to a funny and touching climax that will leave audiences laughing and cheering.
