Sad to hear John & Nikki are closing Best Nest! We bought our sectionals there a few years ago and that was the best decision we made, instead of buying across the bay!

Sad. Very sad indeed to see Best Nest head over the Bay. I loved the store from the moment I stepped into it so when we were ready to build our home here in town I contacted Nikki to see if she does consulting work. She did and together – really just her – we picked out everything needed to build our home: cabinets, tile flooring, wood flooring, etc., EVERYTHING right down to the color on the walls to the knobs on the cabinets. I also have from Best Nest beautiful furniture, rugs, lamps, etc. Always friendly, always helpful. I will miss you John and Nikki – see you in Virginia Beach. We wish you all the best!!

So sorry to hear this- you cannot find two nicer, friendlier business people than John and Nikki. I always loved shopping in their store for special gifts, and gazing longingly in their windows at night after closing. They will be missed.

I am sorry to hear that Best Nest is leaving our town. I bought the most beautiful sofa and chair there a few years ago. I try to support local businesses as often as possible. One of my favorite shops is Bad Girlz and I never go there without a stop into Fig’s antique shop. I wish more locals would shop local, but it’s hard for many folks considering this is the second poorest county in Virginia. Good luck John & Nikki!

Last person to leave, please turn out the lights. I remember in World War II, I was being transported by train from New York to California to be shipped out into the Pacific. We made several stops so the personnel could stretch their legs. I remember this place with a lot of houses, a post office, and a bar. I asked the officer why no one was there. He told me, “Once this was a town with a lot of people, but now it’s Ghost Town.” “What happened,” I asked. “People got fed up and left for the cities because there were no jobs,” was his reply. That was over 70 years ago. That scenario actually will happen to Cape Charles if we don’t learn from history.
