This is a lingering problem that the Town has been working very had to address for a few years now (Russ Dunton of the Wetlands Board is really the expert there, and can speak more to this than I can). The dunes have been growing, and our older, more mature ones are quite impressive (many other beaches would love to have them). Unfortunately, you can't really build a dune, but you have to grow them, and that is a fairly slow and tedious process, and is always subject to the whims of the wind, water and sky.

We need new dunes in the Jefferson Avenue area. We need lots of new grasses on the dunes and some pines to help control the erosion. For those who fear loss of their view, loss of their yard and house would be a lot worse.
