Thanks again, Wayne, for pointing out the positive benefits of a vegan lifestyle. One advantage of going vegan is avoiding exposure to the anitbiotics laced food consumed by the animals under production for food. The antibiotic resistant superbug can be attributed to feeding animals antibiotics for keeping them healthy in close confinement. There are many good reasons for going vegan.

Hi Nick,

You can get a wonderful pasta dish at Little Italy in Nassawadox on Rogers Avenue right off Route 13. The dish is called pasta with vegetables but the vegetables are not just a bunch of vegetables thrown on top of a sauce but rather a fabulous homemade marinara sauce. You can also get a good, cheese-free pizza there.

Also, Thai Rada in the shopping center on Route 13 in Onancock. It’s not a vegan restaurant but you can order at least two good vegan entrees off the menu including Pad Thai. Tell the waiter you want tofu instead of chicken in the dish. And their spring rolls are vegan and very delicious.

Nick, all the eateries in Cape Charles offer a very high quality cuisine, and each with their own take on the Eastern Shore. However, I do not believe that any of them offer a pure vegan entrée (I may be corrected on that). That said, as most Vegans do, you can pick and choose from the menus and create your own. Kelly's , The Oyster Farm and Shanty all offer great salads, and they all use fresh, local grown vegetables. Not sure where you stand on mollusks (I, like Pete Seeger, go back and forth on it), but local clams and oysters are world renown and noted on the Virginia Oyster Trail. Hope you have a great visit in Cape Charles.

Great article! I am visiting Cape Charles the week of July 4th and was wondering if any of the locals have any input on some restaurants that may have good vegan items on their menu. We will be eating at home a lot, but for the few times we go out, I would welcome any input
