FRIDAY 1/17: John Schulz Tells Life as a Fighter Pilot in Poetry and Prose

Cape Charles resident John Schulz delivers “Songs From a Distant Cockpit: Poetry, Prose and Slides about Life as a Fighter Pilot” 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, at the Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

The 90-minute seminar will be held in the Eastern Shore Community College lecture hall, 29300 Lankford Hwy., Melfa.

Dr. Schulz will put you inside the cockpit and take you along for a ride into combat in the F-100 Super Sabre. By the end, you’ll know much about the training, the challenges, and the mindset of those who flew the “Widow Maker” for a living.

Decorated USAF Pilot John Schulz now lives on the Eastern Shore with his wife, Linda. He also was a foreign correspondent for Voice of America and then a college professor and dean at Boston University.
