WEDNESDAY 9/18: Learn About Native Plants at ES Library

The Colors of a Native Plant Palette in your Garden: 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, Accomac Library, 23610 Front Street.

Dr Robert Lyons will discuss a wide array of suitable native species and derived cultivars highlighting those plants with qualities that are colorful and visually appealing to create sustainable landscapes. Color, site suitability, cost, life cycle and nativity along with a low maintenance philosophy will be included to either start a native garden or enhance an established one.

Dr. Lyons is Professor of Landscape Horticulture, the Program Director for the Longwood Graduate Program in Public Horticulture, and Director of the Center for Public Horticulture at the University of Delaware. He was the first Director of Virginia Tech Horticulture Gardens during his tenure and Director of JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State. Dr Lyons has been a photographer for over 30 years and is the primary photographer for Horticopia.
