The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is seeking volunteers to grow baby oysters in floating “oyster gardens” attached to piers, docks, and marina slips to help restore the Bay’s oyster population. WEDNESDAY 9/10: Hoop Houses and High Tunnels for Gardeners
The Eastern Shore Resource Conservation and Development Council will present a free workshop on Hoop Houses and High Tunnels 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, at Quail Cove Farms in Machipongo. Both commercial and home gardeners are welcome and can learn how hoop houses can extend the growing season.

Water System Flush Tuesday 8/19
Cape Charles residents are cautioned not to use any water during the water system flush beginning 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014, ending 2 a.m. Wednesday, August 20. Sediment could be drawn into residences’ water lines. When the flush is completed the system should rectify itself fairly quickly. For questions, call Ron Bailey at 757-331-1018.
