Elizabeth Reid Wins American Legion Essay Contest

Elizabeth Reid, a Northampton Middle School student, is the winner of the Virginia American Legion First District (Eastern Shore) middle school essay contest. Each year, the American Legion Post 56 in Cheriton invites Northampton County middle school students to write a one page essay that begins with, “I like living in America because . . . .”

Ms. Reid’s essay declared that she liked living in America “because of our many freedoms, the diversity, and our military.” She further expressed that “I am very fortunate to live in this country.” [Read more…]

New Programs at Northampton Free Library

The Northampton Free Library in Nassawadox is happy to announce the start of new adult programs beginning in February. All programs will be in our newly updated meeting room and will offer light refreshments.

The Nassawadox Book Club will meet on the third Thursday of every month from 2-4 p.m. Everyone will be reading the same book and books will be provided. Join us for lively discussions and find out what others are reading. We are limited to 12 people for this club because of the availability of the books so please call the library to register.
