THURSDAY 4/25: Town Council Meeting to Extend Date for Start of Construction at Old School

Cape Charles Town Council will hold a special meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Town Hall to approve a second delay to the start of construction to convert the Old School at Central Park into an apartment building.

Under the terms of the contract signed by Mayor Sullivan with the developers, construction was to begin not later than March 20. But developer J. David McCormack of Charon Ventures requested an extension due to ongoing litigation, and Town Council moved the deadline to April 25.

Now that the second deadline has been reached, McCormack has requested a further extension, which Town Council is expected to approve at the special meeting, moving the deadline to July 7.

Town Council will also view a presentation by Greg Kohler on CapeCharlesbytheBay.com, the website planned to promote tourism in Cape Charles.

The Town information packet for the meeting may be read at http://www.capecharles.org/documents/20130422-TCSpecialMtg.pdf.
