LETTER: Thanks for Supporting Crabby Blues Festival

May 7, 2013

DEAR EDITOR:

First of all, thanks to the over 1,000 persons who attended the Crabby Blues Festival on a sunny but blustery day at Cape Charles’ Central Park to benefit the Cape Charles Christian School.

Our school is thriving in no small part thanks to the generosity of a host of people year round and to sponsors who make fundraisers like this one possible.

Using the park is just another way the school maintains its connection to the fabric of the Town; our kids also helped move the library materials to their new location just the day before the festival.

Thanks for the draw provided by the diverse talents of John Baldwin, Johnny Mud, the Cape Charles Band, the Shy Teds, Frank Russell and The Fish Band, Scott & Melinda, and Heather and the Oyster Boys, all of whom generously donated their time, and to Heather Travis who arranged for them to do so.

Thanks to the donors of items to the silent auction and to Leslie Savage for her hard work in pulling in an excellent variety of items.

Thanks to the numerous vendors whose wares and food were outstanding.  Thanks to the employees of the Town of Cape Charles, especially Pete Leontief, who provided tremendous support and assistance before, during, and after the event.

Thanks to Angie Pfeiffer for providing the “crab train” pulled by a pony for kids to enjoy and for the petting area where some of her farm animals were available for hands on connections.

Thanks to the staff, friends, and board members of the school who all contributed in a host of ways.  Thanks particularly to Tee Goller, who was among many of our fine parents who worked tirelessly; Tee was the 2nd in command in all aspects of bringing this wonderful event to fruition.

Finally, a huge thank you to Jenni Potts, one of the School’s fine teachers.  The festival, now in its second year, was not only her idea, but without her enormous charm, talent, and hard work it would not have occurred.

Sadly for us, Jenni and her family are moving to New Orleans where her husband “Pottsie” will serve at his next Coast Guard Station.  Jenni will be mightily missed, but she and her family will remain in our hearts and prayers and they go with God’s speed and blessing.

We invite you to come by and visit our school at 237 Tazewell Ave. in Cape Charles.  We are committed to its success, and we are excited about its future as enrollment for the 2013/2014 school year is underway.

JOHN BURDISS
Chairman
Cape Charles Christian School
