SATURDAY 10/26: 800 Bikers Expected for ‘Between the Waters’ CBES Tour

Nassawadox is the featured town for this year’s 21st annual Between the Waters Bicycle Tour. The Tour is a fundraiser for Citizens for A Better Eastern Shore (CBES), a local non-profit advocacy group.

On Saturday, October 26, there will be four routes to accommodate all levels for cyclists –- 25, 40, 60, and 100-mile routes. Rest stops will provide snacks and drinks and feature views of both the bayside and seaside of the Eastern Shore peninsula.

The Between the Waters Bike Tour averages 800 riders each year, and most of these are visitors who will be staying in local hotels, bed & breakfasts, and campgrounds, and eating in Shore restaurants.

Registered riders receive snacks, lunch, SAG (support and gear) and an event t-shirt. Cost is $60 per adult rider. For registration information or to become a sponsor, visit www.cbes.org, email [email protected] or call the CBES office at 757-678-7157.

Roads in use for this year’s biking event include: Seaside Rd. from Quinby Bridge Rd. to Seaview Rd., State Route 182, Bradford’s Neck Rd., Drummond Town to Melfa, Beacon Rd., Michael’s Hill Rd., Boston Rd., Indian Trail Rd., Shield’s Bridge Rd., Cemetery Rd., Occohannock Neck, Wardtown Rd., and Bayside Rd. Local residents are asked to be aware of bikers in and around these areas October 26 and on Friday, October 25, around the Eastern Shore of Virginia Wildlife Refuge.
