FRIDAY 7/12: Eastern Shore Artists Showcase Bay Inspiration

Artists from Virginia’s Eastern Shore will showcase their talents and share how the Chesapeake Bay has inspired their works during Artists and the Bay Friday, July 12, in Onancock.

This lively, enriching evening coincides with Onancock’s regular 2nd Friday Art Stroll in July series.

Artists and the Bay is a free celebration organized by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), partnering galleries, and local independent artists, with a goal of inspiring continued efforts to protect and preserve the Bay for future generations.

The art festivities will take place at the Eastern Shore Art League, Red Queen, and Jack Richardson galleries from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be available for visitors as they peruse the galleries while observing the styles and skills of local painters, jewelers, sculptors, and other artisans. Visitors who get a gallery card stamped at all three participating locations will be entered in a drawing for a prize package containing gifts from local merchants and artists.

CBF is working throughout the Onancock watershed to help meet pollution reduction goals of the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint, a federal, state, and local initiative to improve water quality.  Recently on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, CBF has hosted rain barrel workshops, managed shoreline plantings, taught adult education classes, and sponsored community enrichment events, in addition to working for funding and technical support for updated infrastructure projects and experimental water quality improvement measures.
