FRI-SAT 8/8-9: Farming Life Fair at Ker Place Recalls Bygone Era

Join the Eastern Shore of Virginia Historical Society for a free two-day event at Ker Place in celebration of farming life on the Eastern Shore in the 1930s and ’40s .

farm life flyerFriday night kicks off the weekend at 6 p.m. with the Exhibit Opening and Music on the Lawn featuring big band style music. Saturday’s festivities will include a Panel Discussion about farming life at 10 a.m. and a Fair from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. with a myriad of activities to include: farmer’s market, antique farming equipment, Ten Good Sheep, Book Bin, children’s games, and much more.

The event is based on a series of oral history recordings about Eastern Shore farming life in the 1930s and ’40s and funded by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. Visit www.shorehistory.org or call 757-787-8012 for more information.
